“Unfinished" At 12:40 AM on Monday the 18th a group of 80 middle and high schoolers and their chaperones departed for the north Georgia mountains. After the 13 hour bus drive the High Schoolers arrived at Camp Covecrest in Tiger, GA and the middle schoolers arrived at Camp Hidden Lake in Dahlonega, GA amidst cheers from the camp staffs. Over the next 6 days our teens experienced life without the blue screen glows of tablets or cell phones. Mountains, lakes, bonfires and mud-pits replaced food courts, shopping centers, YouTube and Netflix. And I don't know if they could have lived life more to the full. Each year, Life Teen International opens up these two camps in Georgia for the duration of the summer. As thousands of teens from across the country attend these camps they not only experience the beauty of the mountains, they experience the Love of Christ. As they were led to experience the "Unfinished" love of God for their lives they experienced also his "Unfinished" mercy. They shared with one another the joy that comes from having a God who never ceases to make Himself known to them. At the end of long days of Georgia sun our teens sang their hearts out in Mass, Eucharistic Adoration and the veneration of the Cross. The teens were helped to see that Faith in Christ does not exclude the Christian from suffering but rather fortifies them through it. I am incredibly proud of the insights and wisdom that our tens came to camp with. I was amazed at their willingness to enter into a week full of experiences. They were so edifying in their compassion and love for one another as they shared their journeys of faith. It is my hope that this week at camp continues to be built upon and edified by their families. St. Lawrence is blessed with so many youth in our pews. May we continue to provide them the opportunities to grow in a faith life that is "Unfinished."

"Sin

Limites”

A las 12:40 de la mañana del Lunes 18 de Julio un grupo de 80 estudiantes de la escuela media y secundaria y sus acompañantes partieron hacia las montañas del norte de Georgia. Después de un viajes en autobús de 13 horas los estudiantes de secundaria llegarón al campo de Covecrest en Tiger, en Georgia y los chicos de intermedia llegarón al campo de Hidden Lake en Dahlonega, Georgia en medio de los aplausos del personal del campamento. Durante los próximos 6 días nuestros jóvenes experimentaron la vida sin la pantalla azul, sus tabletas o teléfonos celulares. Montañas, lagos, hogueras y pozoa de barro reemplazaron patios de comida, centros comerciales, YouTube y Netflix. Y no sé si podrían haber vivido la vida más plenamente. Cada año, Life Teen Internacional abre estos dos campamentos en Georgia durante la duración del verano. Donde miles de jóvenes de todo el país asisten a estos campamentos no sólo para experimentan la belleza de las montañas, tambien el amor de Cristo. A medida que fueron a experimentar el “amor de Dios sin limites” para sus vidas. Tambien experimentaron su misericordia "sin limites.” Ellos comparten con otros la alegría que viene de tener un Dios que nunca deja de darse a conocer a ellos. Al final de largos días de sol de Georgia nuestros jóvenes cantaron con el corazón en la Misa, la adoración eucarística y la veneración de la Cruz. Los jóvenes fueron ayudados a ver que la fe en Cristo no excluye el cristiano del sufrimiento sino que los fortalece a través de él. Estoy increíblemente orgulloso de los conocimientos y la sabiduría que nuestros jovenes llegaron al campamento. Me quedé sorprendido por su disposición a entrar en una semana llena de experiencias en su compasión y amor por los demás, ya que compartieron sus itinerarios de fe. Es mi esperanza que esta semana rica en fe compartido en el campamento siga construyendo sobre ellos y sus familias. San Lorenzo es bendecido por tener tantos jóvenes en nuestras bancas. Que sigamos proporcionando las oportunidades para crecer en una vida de fe que es "sin limites."
