The School District has entered into a use agreement with the Superior Soccer Association for the use of Priest Field.

Legislative Committee Action items: none Discussion items: none Informational items: none ● State Supreme Court Decision on Open Meetings:​ The WI State Supreme Court ruled that a committee overseeing a book list in the Appleton Area School District should have been subject to the State’s open meetings law. ●

“Dark Store” and Walgreens Reversal bills:​ The Assembly Ways and Means Committee held a public hearing June 29th on two bills aimed at curbing corporate strategies that could erode the property tax base of school districts and communities.

Buildings and Grounds​: Luminaires for the Superior Middle School Cafetorium have arrived and will be installed between August 11 - September 1. Most of the Building and Grounds work load continues to be in support of the Superior High School and Cooper Elementary construction projects. Food Service​: The Summer Food Service Program for Children is in full swing and serving around 1,300 meals per day. They are on course to surpass the 44,000 meals they served last summer. Health Services​: Health Services provided their End of the Year Health Services Report Summary for 2016-2017. Health Services reported a grand total of 36,162 office visits this year. Health Services is in the process of hiring 3 nurses for the 2017-2018 school year. Information Technology​: The new contract for internet connectivity began on July 1st, 2017. This new contract is a significant savings compared to the previous contract, while also increasing bandwidth. The new district website is now activated, and the District has received many compliments on the clean, modern look on the full computer and mobile versions of the website. Safety Committee​: The Safety Committee is focusing on Safety Goal Planning for next year. They plan to refocus on the Eyes on Safety program. They are also looking at Public School Works for a safety training system.



Transportation​: The first half of the Summer School program has been completed and busing has gone well. Price quotes for the bus propane pump fill-station to be located at the Middle School will be brought forward in August for Board approval.

Summer School: ​Summer school is off to a great start. Approximately 1500 students are taking part in enrichment, preparation for the next grade, afternoon interest sessions, or credit retrieval. The summer school musical performances of Musical Showcase will be held on July 27​th​ at 7:00 PM, and the 28​th​ & 29​th​ at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM.



Future Ready Update: ​ ​ On Friday, June 9th, administrators, instructional coaches, teacher reps and leaders from each school, library media specialists, and IT staff joined together to learn about ISTE standards, being a Future Ready district, and collaborated to set goals and actions for the District Tech Team for the 2017-2018 school year.



Special Education:​ ​The School District of Superior received a stipend, from the Department of Public Instruction, to send our new District Special Education Transition Coordinator to a Job Development Boot Camp. This Boot Camp is a one-week intensive training experience designed for job developers, teachers, and employment specialist professionals to obtain employment for individuals with disabilities.

ACHIEVEMENT GAP REDUCTION PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES AND SCHOOL BOARD REPORTING TEMPLATE

This document may be used to plan and maintain the Achievement Gap Reduction (AGR) contract application performance objectives for your school. Contact application responses must be submitted to the Department of Public Instruction using the online AGR Five-Year Achievement Guarantee Contract Application form. Retain this document for your records, possible inclusion in an annual evaluation of the AGR program, and to present information on the school's implementation of the contract requirements, its performance objectives, and its success in attaining the objectives to the school board at the end of every semester of the AGR contract. Wis. Stat. § 118.44(4)(d) Prepare a description of the specific, measurable, and achievable performance objectives, including reducing the achievement gap in math and reading for the academic achievement of the pupils enrolled in each participating grade. Include a description of the formative and summative assessments that will be used to evaluate success in attaining these performance objectives for the pupils enrolled in the participating grades.
